About Us

The CUOSA Community Foundation is a non‑profit society in Alberta, currently applying for charitable registration with the Canada Revenue Agency. Powered by community leaders, volunteers, and trusted partners across the province, a single purpose unites us: breaking down barriers to basic needs and essential knowledge so everyone has a fair shot at a stable, connected life.

To relieve poverty, advance education, and improve health and social well‑being across Alberta
by delivering free and low‑cost programs—nutritious food distribution, financial literacy workshops,
mental‑health outreach, and harm‑reduction services—that empower underserved individuals
and families to build stable, connected lives.

Our Story

How Kindness Grew Into Community Power

Founded in 2023 by a coalition of community leaders, volunteers, and trusted partners across Alberta, the CUOSA Community Foundation was established to address critical gaps in basic needs and practical knowledge. Frustrated by fragmented services and barriers to access, our founders united to create a flexible, community‑driven network of mobile pantries, outreach teams, and educational programs—meeting people where they are and treating them with dignity.

Our Impact

Nourish. Educate. Heal.

Meals Delivered: Provided thousands of nourishing meals via mobile pantries and community kitchens.

Workshops Hosted: Facilitated hundreds of free sessions on financial literacy, employment readiness, and digital skills.

Kits Distributed: Distributed hundreds of essential hygiene and harm‑reduction kits through our mobile outreach.

Peer Support: Established dozens of peer‑led mental health support groups across multiple Alberta communities.

How We Operate

Transparency, Zero Bullshit

Transparent & Accountable: We publish annual reports and financial summaries on our website.
Receipting: Upon approval of our charitable status, every donation will receive an official tax receipt with a unique serial number.
Governance & Policies: Guided by a diverse volunteer board, with conflict‑of‑interest and privacy policies in place, and committed to meeting CRA disbursement requirements once registered.

Eiche Gharabli

After recognizing a deep need to support and uplift diverse communities, I founded CUOSA (Community In Unity and Outreach Society of Alberta). My passion for helping others drove me to establish the organization, focusing on providing essential services and resources to individuals of all ages across Alberta.

As the Director and President, I lead CUOSA's initiatives with a vision to create inclusive and impactful programs, such as mobile health clinics and educational workshops. My commitment to building strong, united communities is at the heart of every project I oversee, ensuring a lasting and meaningful impact.

Thabani Conrad Bhala

I'm deeply passionate about helping individuals and organizations unlock their full potential through the art of Program Development, Facilitation, Grant Scoping, and Professional Development.

Over the past 8 years, my team and I have fine-tuned our skills to create programs that are not only informative but also engaging and transformative.

Transitioning from the field of engineering to education, my goal remains the same: to deliver top-notch services tailored to meet the specific needs of each client, regardless of age.

Mind-Body Movement Coach

Kim Brochu

With a deep understanding of the burnout and stress many people face, this certified yoga instructor specializes in trauma-informed yoga to empower individuals in finding balance and healing. Having personally experienced burnout, they discovered the transformative power of yoga and now share this gentle yet powerful practice through engaging workshops for individuals and teams. Focusing on mindful movement, breathwork, and meditation, these sessions help participants reconnect with their bodies, release stored tension, and cultivate a sense of inner peace and empowerment. Emphasizing safety and choice, each session encourages self-compassion and self-discovery, allowing participants to move at their own pace and modify poses to suit their comfort level.

Suzan Nihad

As an innovator and architect with a Master’s degree in the Science of Architectural Engineering, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to my work. My passion for education and environmentalism drives me to design impactful curricula and author engaging educational materials. As an educator, author, and illustrator, I strive to create resources that inspire and inform, blending my expertise in architecture with my commitment to sustainable and community-focused practices.

Currently, I serve as the Director of CUOSA (Community In Unity and Outreach Society of Alberta), where I lead initiatives to build stronger, more inclusive communities across Alberta. My role allows me to merge my architectural and environmental expertise with my passion for social impact, ensuring that CUOSA’s programs are innovative, transformative, and sustainable.

Social media manager

Fathia Adam

Having lived in Canada for 6 years, I bring a diverse and multicultural perspective to my role as the social media manager for CUOSA (Community In Unity and Outreach Society of Alberta). Fluent in four languages, I also hold a diploma in Settlement Studies, which enables me to assist newcomers in their transition and settlement in Canada. I am passionate about using social media as a platform to connect with people from various backgrounds, ensuring our messages reach and resonate with a broad audience.

I take pride in showcasing CUOSA’s mission and activities through creative storytelling, engaging visuals, and interactive content that highlights the positive impact we make across Alberta. By leveraging my linguistic skills, settlement knowledge, and love for social media, I strive to foster a sense of unity, inclusivity, and support among our followers, helping them better understand and engage with our work.

Newcomer Financial Advisor

Yuliya Lytvyn

Having moved to Canada from Ukraine two years ago, I am an accountant and a dedicated mother to my autistic son. My journey has been one of adaptation, resilience, and personal growth, as I have embraced the challenges and opportunities that come with starting a new life in a different country. My son’s unique needs have inspired me to become a more compassionate and understanding individual, fueling my drive to make a difference in the lives of others.

With a passion for numbers and a strong background in accounting, I am committed to using my skills to support individuals and businesses in navigating their financial needs. I also strive to assist other newcomers, understanding firsthand the complexities and adjustments they face. By combining my professional expertise and personal experiences, I aim to create a positive impact within my community, building meaningful connections and offering support wherever it’s needed.
