Embracing Health, Flavor, and Community

About Healthy Bites

Healthy Bites is CUOSA’s community-based food and wellness program designed to make healthy living more accessible, educational, and joyful for all — especially low-income families, seniors, newcomers, and those facing food insecurity.

We believe that good food is the foundation of good health, and that everyone deserves the knowledge, tools, and access to make nourishing choices.

🌱 What We Offer:

  • Healthy Bites Food Boxes
Fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced food boxes are offered at subsidized or no cost to eligible participants. Box sizes are tailored to individuals, couples, and families, supporting a dignified approach to food security.

  • Cooking & Nutrition Education
Hands-on cooking classes and nutrition workshops teach participants how to prepare simple, delicious, and healthy meals using the contents of their food boxes.
We support dietary diversity, cultural preferences, and all skill levels.

  • Health & Wellness Community Events
Free or low-cost community events focused on wellness, chronic disease prevention, mindful eating, and shared learning — all designed to foster connection and lifelong health habits.

  • Supportive Resources
Printed and digital resources, including recipe cards, grocery planning tools, and nutrition tips, help reinforce learning and promote healthy eating beyond the classroom.

💛 Our Vision

To create a healthier, more connected Alberta where nutritious food and wellness education are accessible to all, not as a privilege, but as a right.
