The Community in Unity and Outreach Society's Family Cooking Day became a hub of creativity with the Thompson family leading a DIY Salad Wrap session. It was a perfect blend of healthy eating, creativity, and family bonding.
The Thompsons' Wrap & Roll:
The Thompsons believe that DIY Salad Wraps are a fun way to encourage kids to eat more veggies. They shared their joy of assembling colorful wraps with various fillings, making each wrap a unique creation.
DIY Salad Wrap Recipe:
Ingredients:
Whole wheat or spinach tortillas
A variety of greens (lettuce, spinach, arugula)
Sliced vegetables (cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots)
Grilled chicken or tofu strips (optional)
Hummus or Greek yogurt for spreading
Cheese slices or shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions:
Lay out the tortillas and spread a thin layer of hummus or Greek yogurt.
Let each family member choose and place their desired greens, veggies, protein, and cheese on the tortilla.
Roll up the tortilla, securing the filling inside.
Slice the wrap in half and serve.
