Our Cultural Food Fair was infused with the spicy and vibrant flavors of the Caribbean, thanks to Donovan's Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Donovan brought a piece of his island's soul to the event.


Donovan's Jamaican Roots: 


Jerk Chicken, for Donovan, is a dish that encapsulates the spirit of Jamaica - bold, vibrant, and full of life. He shared the history of jerk seasoning and its significance in Jamaican culture.


Jamaican Jerk Chicken Recipe:


Ingredients:


  • Chicken pieces

  • Jerk seasoning (a blend of allspice, thyme, scotch bonnet peppers, garlic, and other spices)

  • Soy sauce, vinegar, and a touch of brown sugar


Instructions:


  1. Marinate the chicken in jerk seasoning, soy sauce, vinegar, and brown sugar.

  2. Grill or bake the chicken until it's cooked through.

  3. Serve with rice and peas or a side of coleslaw.
